Digital radiography (digital X-ray) is the latest technology used in dental X-rays. This technology uses an electronic sensor to capture a digital image and store it on a computer. This snapshot can be viewed and enlarged to help us spot problems more easily. Digital x-rays also reduce radiation by 80-90% compared to traditional dental x-rays.
This device helps our doctors accurately measure the length of the tooth roots electronically for a complete cleaning of the tooth. Because it is so precise, it usually reduces the number of x-rays needed during the procedure. When used with digital x-rays, this device further reduces patient exposure.
Our doctors use a special microscope during treatment to allow better vision through illumination and magnification. This technology significantly improves the vision of the doctor and assistant inside the tooth, facilitating a more comprehensive treatment, especially in locating calcified canals and diagnosing root fractures.
We use state-of-the-art digital imaging technology to provide accurate and efficient diagnoses. We can take digital pictures/videos of the procedure with the microscope. These can then be sent to your family dentist to give you more information about your specific needs. This helps to bridge the gap between our office and the referring family dentist and increases the quality of treatment.
Three-dimensional cone computed tomography (3D CBCT) provides additional information that traditional X-rays do not. This type of information is useful for endodontic procedures and dental implant procedures. Cone Beam is an exciting new technology that allows you to examine teeth, their roots and the surrounding bone in three dimensions. It also allows the detection of abnormalities of the teeth and surrounding structures that are normally not visible with conventional two-dimensional radiography.
Instead of using a drill inside the tooth, this device vibrates a diamond-coated metal tip at a high frequency. Because it is very small, it can be used under a microscope to precisely remove small amounts of teeth or fillings, allowing conservative treatment of the tooth. Our doctors also use silent electric hand tools (drills) to help eliminate the sound of a dental drill.
Our practice has a "Dental EMR" which is the latest paperless endodontic practice management software available for endodontics. This means that all x-rays and charts are taken and stored on a computer. With this technology, we can store your dental records electronically and reduce unnecessary paper in traditional paper. It also allows us to quickly contact your family dentist about your tooth. In line with our paperless standard, we also use electronic complaint handling. This means that instead of sending your dental claim in the mail, it is sent electronically to your insurance company with the click of a button. By submitting the application electronically, information is transmitted more efficiently and with fewer errors. This benefits our patients as complaints are processed faster and fewer applications are returned or rejected.
